With over 13 years of volleyball experience, 3 as a three time NECC champion, where she received both honorable mention for the season from the NECC, as well as Player of the Week, it’s safe to say Coach Marissa knows her way around the court.
She’s proven to be an all around player, shifting from outside hitter to defensive specialist, and libero. All this experience has made Marissa a vessel of game skill, strategy, and knowledge that fueled Ironclad’s 18s successful inaugural season. With her guidance, the Iron Eagles were able to move swiftly from bracket 15 to 9 by the end of the 2016 season and one step away from the silver division within the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA).
Her personal experience as a local high school volleyball player have given her a unique understanding of what local players need both on and off the court. From diverse practice plans, academic tutoring, to personalized strategies to improve player performance based on their own unique style of play, Marissa’s undeniable passion for volleyball is nothing short of contagious to everyone she comes in contact with.
“She’s intense…volleyball is her life, so seeing these girls get a kill when they couldn’t hit or pass when they’ve struggled to dig a ball is overwhelmingly exciting to her. To put it plainly, she loves to see her players succeed.”, says, Director Ramires. That couldn’t be more evident than in the 100% of her outgoing 2016 seniors that have been offered volleyball positions on college squads. Her commitment to shaping players into well-rounded young women continues to be the one of the most profound qualities of Coach Marissa.
“To put it plainly, she loves to see her players succeed.”, and we couldn’t agree more!
On top of all this, Marissa ended her undergraduate journey in May 2015 with her B.A. in English and hopes to receive her teaching credential.
